Today (June 2) is the birthday of “Isaignani” Ilayaraja, whose contribution to Tamil film music is legendary. His music has been one of the biggest influences in Kollywood.
Bhavatharini, daughter of Ilayaraja will be conducting a very big concert in Chennai on Friday June 5, to celebrate his birthday. She will be playing out numbers from Ilayaraja’s album “Nothing but Wind”.
At the concert, leading young singers like Vijay Yesudas, Haricharan, Pop Shalini and Shwetha Mohan are expected to take part
A big birthday celebration is being planned for the maestro around 12 noon by the producers of two of his forthcoming Tamil films at Prasad Studios deluxe theatre, in Saligramam, Chennai where his recording studio is situated.
He has composed over 4500 songs and provided film scores for more than 900 films in various languages in a career spanning more than 30 years. He is a recipient of prestigious Padma Bhushan and won the National Film Award thrice.
