Miss World 2008 Runners up Parvathi Omanakuttan in Film.
After an eight year gap India created waves at the Miss World pageant. Parvathi Omanakuttan was Miss India-World 2008 and the first runner-up in the Miss World 2008 beauty paegent. She recently gave an interview to the media that she had been getting ready for a career in the film industry. The news now is that Parvathy has been roped in by producer Singanamala Ramesh Babu to play a cameo in his film, starring Mahesh Babu and Parvathi Melton, which is being directed by Trivikram Srinivas. This untitled film is presently going through its first schedule of shooting.
The 21-year-old beauty queen, who narrowly missed the title earlier won by the likes of Rita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000), at the pageant held in Johanesburg, attributed her inability to win the crown to the "luck factor".
"I did my best," she said, adding that missing the title by a whisker was a disappointment. Parvathy said she would continue with her modelling assignments. Describing the experience of the Miss World campaign as overwhelming, Parvathy said she made many friends during the period.
The Mumbai girl, who hails from Kerala and loves home made food, felt her success at the Miss World pageant was like a middle class dream come true.
Parvathy said she plans to visit the Taj Mahal and Trident hotel, site of the November 26 terror attacks, to pay homage to the victims and martyrs. Her father is an employee of the hotel.Parvathy, who lost the title to Miss Russia, returned home from Johannesburg to a huge welcome in the wee hours yesterday.
