Actor Rajan P Dev Passed Away

Rajan P Dev, Malayalam and other South Indian Languages character artist who was admitted in Hospital died this morning (July 29, 2009 at 6:30 AM) according to reports on internet. Rajan P Dev’s health condition was monitored by the doctors for serious lung infection.

He came into limelight for his charecterisation of Kochu Vava in the drama Kattukuthira, which was later made into the Malayalam film as Kattukuthira, with Thilakan as Kochu Vava.

He has directed two Malayalam movies 'Achammakkuttiyude Achayan' in the year of 1998 and 'Achante Kochumolku' in 2003.

Mallu Actress Kavya Madhavan Files Divorce ?

Famous Mallu Actress Kavya Madhavan, who got married to Nischal Chandran on Feb 5, 2009, heading for a divorce?

There is no official confirmation about this from Kavya’s family or their Advocate, but sources close to them says that the marriage is on the rocks and Kavya who joined her husband in Kuwait is now back in Vennala, Cochin and is staying with her parents.

Kavya who was in Kuwait realized that Nischal and his family had taken her for a ride as he did not have a job and was always suspicious about her.

Sources also state that Kavya’s family has approached a leading lawyer and filed a divorce petition. Remember that Kavya got married to Nischal when she was at the peak of her career. Nischal, a failed actor and his mother were torturing Kavya mentally, alleging that she had an affair with a top Malayalam actor, which led to the split.

Mohanlal becomes Lieutenant Colonel

Malayalam super star, Mohanlal has added to his accolades and has been made an honorary Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army.

The 48-year-old Mohanlal will be the first actor in the country to get such a prestigious title from the army. The only other celebrity to get this title is former Indian Cricket Captain Kapil Dev.

The age limit for joining the TA, which has been fixed at 42, has been relaxed for the star who is 48. There is precedence for this as Kapil Dev was too over aged when he was commissioned by TA.

It is perhaps the two army roles that he donned — in movies 'Keerthichakra' and 'Kurukshetra' — that led to this new development. Keerthichakra depicted the army’s anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir, while Kurukshetra dealt with the Kargil war.

It will be a great honour. It is also heartening to know that I — my films — have been instrumental in Lal getting the honour,” says Major Ravi, who directed both the films. The director will soon start work on a film on the Kandahar Hijack, featuring Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan.



The Territorial Army is a voluntary part-time civilian force that plays a key role in the defence of the country. It provides an opportunity to civilians to receive military training and also provides the country with a reserve force that can assist the regular army during operations, whenever required. However, it remains an honorary post.

Ee Pattanathil Bhootham releasing Tomorrow

Mammootty's new movie ‘Ee Pattanathil Bhootham’ will be released by tomorrow (9th of July). The film directed by Johny Antony, was earlier planned to hit the theaters by the end of June.

Due to heavy graphics and animation works, the producers have to reschedule the release dates for quite some time. Kavya Madhavan in one of her last outing to film before her marriage had completed the heroine act of the movie. In fact, Kavya is for the first time acting opposite the megastar as the heroine.

Mammootty will be appearing in a double role in this hilarious thriller.

Ee Pattanathil Bhootham is a straightforward adaptation of Aladdin and His Magic Lamp with a ramantic comedy twist, written by Javar Sitaraman.

Asin in 19th Steps

Asin Thottumkal became a household name after the success of the Hindi Movie 'Gajini'. The actress, who is presently working for 'London Dreams' with Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan, has taken a major decision. She has stopped taking her father to the sets!.

Earlier, Asin used to be accompanied by her father to the moview sets. But these days she goes alone. According to sources, her Bollywood co-stars have asked her not to bring her father to shooting locations and the actress obliged them.

Asin's '19 Steps' with Kamal Haasan has been stalled. Kamal, who was to play a significant role in the film, reporteldy suggested some major changes to producer vharatbala visa-vis the script. But the latler didn't take to them kindly. As a result Kamal backed out of the film, forcing the movie to come to a standstill.

She also acted as a teenager in Fazil's Harikrishnans as Mammooty and Mohanlal's little sister. In kannada she made Dakshayini, Kadambari, Karulina Kudi, Bhairavi, Chinna Nee Naguthiru. She stopped acting in kannada 10 years ago, but still she is the famous child actress.

She has been cast in Anand Ranga's directorial debut alongside Siddarth. Anand Ranga worked as an associate to 'Bommarillu'. She also stars as Mohanlal's daughter in a yet to be titled movie.
