Mohanlal misses the award !!!

Mohanlal who was tipped to get the 55th National Film Awards for 2007 for his brilliant performance as Valiyakathu Moosa in Pardesi(see pic), lost it by a whisker to Prakash Raj.

A source close to one of the jury members said: “Till the last round Mohanlal was the front runner to get the awards. In the final round, he and Prakash Raj got equal number of votes from the jury members. Finally it was the jury chairman’s casting vote which made Prakash the winner.”

Anyway as a consolation Mohanlal should be happy that Pattanam Rasheed the man who did the make up for him in Pardesi walked away with the best makeup man award.

Kanika with Jayaram once again

After playing a central character opposite Jayaram in super hit Bhagyadevatha by ace director Sathyan Anthikkad, popular actress Kanika will once again romance Jayaram in his next Malayalam film My Big Father.

She will don the role of a housewife Ancy in this film to be directed by Mahesh P. Sreenivasan. Ajaykumar alias Undapakru, widely known as Guinness Pakru, will act as Jayaram's father Kunjumon, a specialist biriyani-chef who runs a catering service with his son Albie (Jayaram). Shooting for My Big Father is progressing in Chalakudi. Other locations are Kochi and Goa.

Produced by P.A. Sebastian under the banner of Time Add Entertainment, the film is scripted by Satheesh K. Sivan and Suresh Menon. Vipin Mohan wields the camera. Vayalar Sarat Chandra Varma has penned the lyrics and Alex Paul has scored the music.

Deepan-Prithvi ready to start Singaravelan

Deepan and Prithviraj, whose film Puthiyamugham did very well, are ready with their next film, Singaravelan. Prithvi will play the lead in it. The film, scripted by Babu Janardhanan will be produced by Seven Arts and will start shooting in November. Most probably Priyamani will play the female lead in the movie.

Prithviraj tasted success with Deepan through Puthiyamugham. The film did help Prithvi to gain the much needed action hero image. Surely this has given his career a boost as his hands are full with movies like Robinhood, Thanthonny, Pokkiri Raja and the remake of Classmates, Ninaithaale Inikkum and Mani Ratnam’s Raavan in Tamil.
