Actress Asin Thottumkal

Asin, the lead actress of last year's all time blockbuster, the Murugadoss directed Aamir Khan starrer, GHAJINI became an overnight sensation as Kalpana with a performance that won her not only many awards, but most importantly many a hearts. And it looks like she is going to carry forward her winning ways in her next film, LONDON DREAMS, where she stars opposite Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Asin's character in Vipul Shah's LONDON DREAMS is very close to what the petite lady is in real life. She plays the character of a girl called Priya from London, who in order to earn fame and name joins a musical band. There she meets the two lead singers of the band played by Ajay and Salman.

Talking about her role, Asin elaborates that she essays two characters simultaneously, one is shown to be very modern, wearing hot dresses with an attitude, and the other character requires her to be traditional, donning salwar-suits. Thus this role is similar to what Asin is in real life, because like her character she too leads a simple, traditional life at home, while at work she has to appear glamorous and hot.

Here's looking forward to another heart warming performance from the South siren, Asin, who's here to rule Bollywood with her winning ways and her pretty smile!



The actress, who was brought up in Kerala and debuted in Sathyan Anthikad's Malayalam film "Narendra Makan Jayakanthan Vaka" in 2001, is touted to be the next Bollywood diva from the south, following in the footsteps of Hema Malini, Rekha and Sridevi.

Tell her this, and she laughs in delight and embarrassment.

"I admire the names you've mentioned. I'm a long way from getting anywhere near them. I thought I was fairly unknown in Mumbai. I guess I'm lucky. But, yes, I feel hugely welcome in Mumbai. I don't know why filmmakers are showing so much interest in me. I guess they must've seen my work in Tamil and Telugu," she said.

New Malayalam Movie Banaras

The upcoming Malayalam flick ‘Banaras’, starring Vineeth and Kavya Madhavan in the lead role has completed its shooting in Thiruvananthapuram and Banaras. The film will arrive at the theatres on April 09, 2009. The film is directed by Nemam Pushparaj. Vineeth plays Hari, a research student on folk dances. Kavya Madhavan plays the role of Amritha, a classical dancer. Most part of the shooting has been done in Banaras.

Banaras is an offbeat love story, flowering in the backdrop of pilgrim centres in and around Banaras. Hari, the only son of a Malayalee professor had been working in Banaras University, was born in Banaras, but brought to his father's native place in Kerala after the death of his mother at the time of Hari's birth. Later, his father married another woman to look after Hari. His parents want Hari to marry his niece Devu who is in love with him, but Hari's ambition is to return Banaras for higher studies in folk dance. In Banaras, he meets Amritha, a classical dancer, during a function conducted by a Malayalee association. They became friends and eventually fall in love with each other.

The film is produced by M.R. Nair under the banner of Kashi films. Music has an important role to play in the film. M. Jayachandran composes the music music to lyrics by Giresh Puthencherry. K.J. Yesudas, Sadhana Sargam and Shreya Goshal have rendered the songs. Camera is handled by M. Sukumar. Jagathy Sreekumar, Nedumudi Venu, Devan, Bineesh Kodiyeri, Harisree Asokan and Suraj Vejaramoodu are also in the cast.

In Harihar Nagar is referred to as part of the golden age of Malayalam comedy and among the most hilarious movies in Indian cinema. The famous line “Thomassukuttee vittodaa” comes from this movie.

In Harihar Nagar is the story of four young men Mahadevan (Mukesh), Govindan Kutty (Siddique), Appukuttan (Jagadish) and Thomas Kutty (Asokan), who live together in Harihar Nagar. The story begins with the arrival of lovely Maya (Geetha Vijayan) to a nearby house.

The four of them are instantly smitten and decide to pursue her. They try to woo the girl by planning to charm her grandparents and thus winning their trust. Those attempts have hilarious consequences.

The sequel to the movie will be by none other than actor - producer Lal. Lal is going to debut as an independent director with this movie. Lal produced the film. The movie got released today (April 01, 2009)

The excitement is growing day by day. Flexes banners and posters are every where to be seen. Lal’s decision to make sequel to In Hariharnagar is proving correct. Super star and Mega star are all in second and third position this Vishu as ‘keralathinte swanthaam vaayilnokkies’ are back.

It was in 1990 that In Hariharnagar was released. It was super hit in other languages too. Even today it will come in first 25 top Malayalam films and in top 3 Malayalam comedy films.

As every one knows, this is first time Lal is directing a film after the much successful duo broke up in 1998. Lal who then came as actor, producer and distributor achieved great success in all.

2 Harihar Nagar has all the main characters who was in the Prequel In Hariharnagar- Mukesh, Siddique, Asokhan and Jagadish. The characters they played are living in this society as you and me.

Geetha Vijayan, who made her debut as heroine in the prequel is playing a role in this film too but not as heroine. Lakshmi Rai is heroine in the film.

The hit song 'Unnam Marannu, Thenni Parannu', penned by Bichu Thirumala is remixed by Lal’s brother the music director Alex Paul for this film.

Everyone acting in this film is given a different look. Actor Siddique looks real macho. Hope Lal can minimize the over acting done by Jagadish in recent years which made him show his door out of the movies.

2 Harihar Nagar was completed in Kovalam beach the last of February.

Viewers are expecting another memorable villain like John Honai which was brought to life by the handsome Rizabava.

Rohini who is an engineer in the film acts as Mukesh's wife, Lena is Siddique's wife and plays a financial adviser in Dubai, Fabi plays a doctor as Jagadeesh's wife and Rakhi plays Asokan’s housewife.

Some viewers had the opinion that the film should have been done by current youth thinking that the film’s characters where in their 20s, but it was only later that people came to know that the characters in the film are in their 40s.

This vishu Sagar alias Jacky which also is a sequel is hitting theatres. As the film is manly it would attract only males, Pattanathil Bhootham which will woo children and thus their parents but will have the lowest opening in the three. 2 Hariharnagar will woo youth, middle aged and children alike.

Kavya Madhavan is back !!!



Our own girl Kavya is back in the role of Amritha a Classical dancer in Banaras, directed by Nemom Pushparaaj. Talented dancer Vineeth is also playing the role of Hari,a research student on folk dances. The pair contributed their best to the brilliantly choreographed dance sequences. Navya Nair is another attraction of the film .

This love story evolves around the famous pilgrim centre Banars. Hari and Amritha meet each other during a progrmme conducted by the malayalee association in varanasi and their friendship grow and ended up in love. But Hari's father want Hari to marry his niece Devu (Navya Nair), who is in love with Hari.

Cheriyaan Kalpakavaady is the script writer of this film. Songs sung by Sadhana Saragam, K J Yesudas and Shreya Goswal with M Jayachandrans music already hit the music charts.
