Why Suriya missed 3 Idiots?

The uncertainty that prevailed over who will be donning the main lead in the 3 Idiots remake has been finally put to rest with news that it is none other than Vijay. Ever since this remake, which is being directed by Shankar, was announced, the media has been speculating that the role would either go to Vijay or Suriya.
At a time when it was expected that it will be Suriya’s cup of tea, an announcement was made that Vijay has been finalized and will be joining the camp shortly. So, what made Suriya opt out from the project? According to sources close to both the stars, it’s their friendship more than anything else that made Suriya back out of the project as his hit film Singam was initially offered to Vijay but the actor could not take it up for want of dates and eventually it landed in his court.
Sources say that he did not want this to repeat with the 3 Idiots remake and hence decided to move out. Further, it is said that Suriya shares a good rapport with Vijay and he does not want to take away yet another fine opportunity from his good friend

Suriya Captain from Tamil Team - Celebrity Cricket League: Captain - Venkatesh, Owner – Vishnu

Film actors from North and South will participate in Celebrity Cricket League. Manchu Vishnu’s 24 Frames Factory owns Tollywood team. Venkatesh is its captain. Venkatesh is a cricket buff and whenever he finds time he will watch cricket in India and abroad.
Tollywood team members will be announced before February 14. Taapsee and Samantha will be ambassadors for Tollywood cricket team
Surya will captain Tamil team, Artists Association is the owner. Puneet Rajkumar is owner and captain of Kannada Team.
Salman Khan is the owner and captain of Hindi team.

No plans to remake 7am Arivu in Hindi: Murugadoss

Earlier, a section of the media speculated that director A.R. Murugadoss will remake his ongoing project 7am Arivu (which has Suriya and Shruti Haasan in the lead) in Hindi with Shahid Kapur. But the director has now denied the news, saying, "A call on remaking or dubbing the film will be taken after we finish the original." There are also reports that the director has plans to dub the film in Hindi, since Shruti and Suriya are already popular faces in Bollywood.

Jyothika praises Karthi

Karthi’s recent release Siruthai is doing reasonably well at the box-office. The movie also gave a new dimension to his career as he played a double role for the first time. Now apart from receiving applauds from fans he has found a special fan for himself, none other than sister in law Jyothika.

Karthi says, “Anni promised me long back she would catch the movie first day itself as I am playing the police officer and as promised she did catch the movie first day itself.”

Jyothika really enjoyed the flick and she congratulated him by sending SMS’s praising Karthi’s act even before the show had finished. Karthi further added, “I really felt overwhelmed.”

When questioned him about pairing up with brother Surya he was quick with his reply, “I don’t think that would happen in the near future as Surya has schedules packed for the coming 2 years and there are many other reasons too.”

7am Arivu shoot permission denied in Coimbatore by collector P.Umanath

The Coimbatore district administration refused to give permission for shooting of Suriya’s forthcoming film 7am Arivu. Director AR Murugadoss planned to shoot the film near check dam surrounded by a forest. But the Coimbatore administration said no for the shoot followed by the protest raised by environmental activists.

Sources reveal that the unit has erected huge sets similar to a palace near the check dam, near by reserve forest. The activists raised protest that the shooting will be polluting the Siruvani River as the material used for the set was plaster of paris. Moreover the location selected by the director is a place where many birds and animals survive in the same place.

The district collector of Coimbatore P.Umanath refused to give the permission for the shoot and asked the unit to remove the lavish sets on the river side with immediate course action.

It's Not Surya, but Vijay for '3 Idiots’

Recently it was said that Surya has been confirmed for the remake of super hit film 3 Idiots. The film that is to be directed by Shankar also stars Srikanth and Jeeva along with Ileana. Sathyaraj is playing a pivotal role in the film.
With all these in news recently, the latest buzz says that the creative difference between Shankar and Surya seems to have popped up resulting in abrupt conclusion and now Surya is out and Vijay back in the project.

Director Shankar’s 3 Idiots shooting was officially started today in Ooty

Director Shankar’s 3 Idiots, which is topping the headlines for quite sometime now is set free from all the obstacles. From the day the film was acquired it has been hitting the speed breakers one after the other regarding the director or the cast and crew.

The shooting was officially started today in Ooty, where Jeeva and Srikanth have taken part in the shoot. Shankar is planning to complete the combination sequences of both the actors by February end. Suriya will be joining the team by March 1st, 2011. Suriya is donning the role of Aamir Khan, while Jeeva and Srikanth are playing the other two roles played by Madhavan and Sharman Joshi. Ileana is playing the role of Suriya’s love interest. Sathya Raj is playing the role of a professor, which was played by Bomman Irani in the original version.

The title of the film is to under a change and once everything is finalized the official launch of the film is going to take place on a grand scale.

Suriya and Shruthi Back from Thailand

7am Arivu of Suriya and AR Murugadoss is filming on a faster pace. Suriya and Shruthi Hassan are playing the lead roles in the film.

The team is back from long outdoor shoot after completing three songs in the scenic locations of Hong Kong and Thailand. Cinematographer Ravi.K.Chandran has captured handsome Suriya and enigmatic Shruthi along with the exotic locales much more beautifully and Shruthi Hassan is excited to see the final product. Suriya is playing the role of a handicapped circus artist. The audio of the film is expected to release soon.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is producing the film under the banner of Red Giant movies. Harris Jayraj is composing the music for this medical thriller.

Surya's 3 idiots to begin shooting in Feb

After actor Mahesh Babu refused Shankar's '3 Idiots' his role as reported earlier will be played by Surya. The shooting of the film will start from Feb 2nd week in a college in Jammu & Kashmir. To shoot in this college, the producers have sought special permission. The film will be shot as a bi-lingual and will star Surya in the lead role. Ileana plays his love interest, while Sriram and Jeeva will play the other two idiots. Veteran Tamil actor and yester year hero Satya Raj will play the role of Principal Veeru Sahasrabuddhi which was essayed by Boman Irani in the original.

Suriya's 'Raktha Charithra-2’ Television Premiere

Suriya’s ‘Raktha Charithra-2’ generated huge sensation in B-town as the film had a power packed performance by Suriya. In fact, the film critics acclaimed second part to be racier than RC-1 as the conflicts were more and screenplay was much engrossing.

The film’s satellite rights has been sold out for record-breaking price to Sony Set Max and the movie will be aired tomorrow night at 8 p.m.

The film has gained more momentum as the real life inspiration of Surya’s character, Maddelacheruvu Suri was shot dead recently. This has intensified the interests towards the film and for the one, who weren’t aware about this film will have a look over it in small screen now.

Suriya all praises for Santhanam

Comedian Santhanam is on a roll. The busiest comedian of Kollywood is in raptures after accolades are pouring in for his performance in 'Siruthai'. Actor Suriya who met Santhanam has said that the one liners of Santhanam in the film were as hilarious as the ones of legendary Goundamani sir. He even said the best comedian award for 2011 will be reserved for Santhanan.

But the rise in popularity has also made Santhanam costlier. The comedian who was getting remuneration depending on the budget of the film has now consolidated his fee. The new rate card says Santhanam is charging Rs. 30 lakhs for a film which will take only 15 days of his work. If one needs more days, he will be charging an additional 5 lakhs per day.

Wonder how many comedians managed to reach this height before in the early years of their career!

I want to work with Suriya: Taapsee Pannu

Who wouldn’t give up the opportunity to be part of the glamour world? It’s therefore not surprising to learn that Taapsee Pannu gave up an offer to work with a leading IT firm for films. With several commercials to her credit, her pretty face was noted by several film-makers. What’s more? She debuted opposite Tamil star Dhanush in Aadukalam that hit the theatres last week.

With several stars, including Rajinikanth, praising her for her performance in the movie, Taapsee seems to be in the mood for celebration! “I get bored easily and am constantly looking out to do something different. Getting into the film industry is an outcome of just that — an experiment. I began to get offers from the south after I won a couple of titles at a beauty pageant. So I decided to act. But I find myself enjoying my job thoroughly,” she says.

Getting to work with a star in the first film ensures you of a ticket to sustainability from day one. Taapsee says, “Dhanush is an evolved actor in the true sense. I didn’t have the slightest clue about Kollywood and the language too was a problem. But he helped me understand the industry,” she says, adding, “I had to deliver a dialogue that ran for more than six lines without prompting. I was panicking, but with the help of my co-star and director, I did so with ease.”

Taapsee’s quite upbeat about her new life as a film actor and gets talking about her wish list of stars she wants to work with. “People from the north know the stalwarts — Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan. But after Suriya’s performance in Rakta Charitra, a lot of girls are curious about him. He is my favourite actor and I would love to work with him,” she giggles. In fact, she even conveyed her intention to the man himself. “I met Suriya during the audio launch of my film and told him exactly what I felt. He apologised for not coming up to congratulate me first. I thought that was a cute gesture,” she adds, hoping to see her dreams come true soon.

Suriya & Shruti in Thailand

For the last 10 days Suriya and Shruthi Haasan are shooting for AR Murgadoss directed 7am Arivu in Bangkok and other parts of Thailand.

Two days back they shifted to the cold and windy Hong Kong.

Some crucial scenes and a song composed by Harris Jayaraj are being shot by ace cameraman Ravi K Chandran.

Murgadoss is a fast worker and with this schedule nearly 75 percent of the film will be completed.
7am Arivu is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giants, and is one of the biggest movies on the floor.

It is said to be an action packed entertainer. Murgadoss feels his script will once again triumph, as the story is in a different genre.
